Need Help about Interesting Problem

Hi guys. First, my sistem components:

FX4300

M5A97 R2.0

HD6950 BIOS MOD 6970

COUGAR 700W PSU

 

Today, i decided to clean gpu when it hits 102 degrees. Cleaned as always and reinstalled everything. When i tried to boot up, computer boots but gpu did not work. I was afraid and tried everything again, answer is still same.

I tried with different old gpu, x1550, and it boots and monitor turned on. I did everything from clearing CMOS to reclean thermal paste and reapply new one. Nothing worked.

Then i tried the other pcie slot and it worked. This is the interesting part. x1550 works with pcie slot 1 and 2 without problem. But 6950 works only with pcie slot2  

Now im using at slot 2 doesnt encountered any problem, but how can it be? There is no problem with slot, no problem with psu, no problem with gpu. Any suggestions?

So slot 2 is only electrically wired for x8 only. Take some isopropyl alcohol and clean off the PCI contacts on the GPU and try again. You may have gotten something on the contacts that is preventing it from properly talking with the slot.

@Skiiwee29 thanks forgot to check it. Now checked and its working on x4 mode. I will update the post when i come home and try it.

The things that i did;

I cleaned my gpu pins with alcohol, thinner and rubber.

I swapped the pciex slots

I used old video card

 

Now, i'm using x1550 in the x16 slot and hd6950 in x4 slot. HD6950 is not working now in either slots. But the thing is, system monitor programs sees my hd6950 attached to the board.

If i fried my gpu, it wont seen in any program or smthng else. But why it is not working in even x4 slot ?
