Ubuntu network problem

Hi I have converted an old computer which was preety bad and we bought some more computers and i jsut swaped the hard drives over to another computer with more ram and a better hard drive and now I can't connect to the internet I have a direct Ethernet connection and it's jsut comes up with the system network is not compatible with this version which bull because on the old computer I was running it on it worked please help thanks

What's the OS? My rig has an ethernet card not supported by linux, the change in motherboard could be the problem.
