Hey guys

I have a problem with my nvidia surround, the left and right images are stretched and distorted in games, not on the desktop or in screen shots, anyone have an idea why and how to stop it?

Edit: the middle screen is fine, just the left and right ones with the problem

its designed to do that. you will never get it one hundred percent perfect in most games because its meant as your peripheral vision its to make it seem more natural. ive been using surround for a very long time now and at first it bugged me eventually you realize it makes sense

you may need to enable bezel correction if you didnt already other then that you may need to hunt down some fixes for those specific titles that you are playing.

just finished installing and patching  should be able to find something soon i hope. based on my testing of skyrim and some other games its really gonna be an fov thing though. i find depending on how your monitors are angled will depend on the setting, bioshock infinite for example on my setup i use a 97 fov if i use my dads setup in his office its more like an 83 fov to make it look most natural.

ok after playing a bit the absolute best i could find to make it as least fishy eyed as possible is to use a bezel corrected resolution. if you didnt setup bezel correction i would highly suggest doing it and setting them as your res instead of 5760x1080 as they can make a very big difference. My bezel corrected resolution for instance is actually 6070x1080 but that will change from person to person

This product claims to fix the problem: http://www.gamewarping.com/index.php/order

Here's an example:

€450!?!? for something nvidia should put in the driver!?

I totally agree that the price is outrageous. However, the product's target seems to be high-dollar training simulators, not gamers.

Also, I don't think this is a driver issue. As far as I can tell, it is an issue with the game software. As I mentioned in this post (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/163328-peripheral-screens-in-surroundeyefinity-gaming/#entry2380265), 2 games--iRacing and rFactor--have a setting called "render each screen separately" that eliminates stretching on the side monitors. We probably won't see other games with this setting until the number of gamers playing on multiple monitors reaches a critical mass.

have you tried flawlesswidescreen or widescreenfixer yet? (www.wsgf.org and http://3dsurroundgaming.com/ ) those progs have a big collection of surround fixes for games..., fixes for letterboxing incorrect scaling and most of the time extra wide FoV fixes and such :)

its just what happens when you play games across 3 screens because it fits for for half a screen for the edge monitors, ive looked into the same issues for my surround setup. its kind of hard to explain.

because you are suppose to be focused on the middle screen the middle screen is normal, and the the left and right make up a full screen together. i hope you can understand what im saying, but it is 4:30am so some slack would be nice.

  • 1 year later...

I have done extensive searching on this to try to resolve the issue after I moved to 3 27" wide screens. I have looked at every forum I could find, undertaken countless google searches, emailed many of the gurus in computing, spoken to many experts in computing, and the results are not positive to resolve stretching on widescreen monitors

When I used triple screen on the old 4:3 monitors, stretching was not an issue. However with widescreen monitors, it appears. Had I known prior to moving to the widescreen, I would not have gone that way and instead try to have found larger 4:3 monitors than the 17" ones I was using. But at the time of change, very little was discussed on this issue.

The suggestion 'it is to give you immersive experience by being stretched' is actually incorrect. It has nothing to do with immersive play, it is not designed to do stretching on purpose, it is purely an issue with widescreen monitors. And turning widescreen to true in fsx.cfg for example, that is when it really shows up. Leaving fsx.cfg as false resolves most of the issue, but the problem is width of peripheral vision is great and correct, but you loose height of vision making the view narrower top to bottom.

So which way do you go ends up being personal choice, but it is an issue that the forums need to be more open about it as more and more simmers move to multi screens and become frustrated with this stretching issue. The best thing to do is to stick with 4:3 monitors if you want to go multi monitor.

Sorry this is not a resolution for you to the problem. It is just the plain and simple truth, and for me I am annoyed as it is a bit of a con by the video card manufacturers who offer multi screen video cards but fail to highlight the problem.
