Overclocking Problem

Okay so I've had this ongoing problem for a long time now, I have a i7 6800k which I purchased as an overclock bundle from scan a while back, this overclocked to 4.2Ghz. now I don't exactly know what the cause is but now I can't overclock the CPU at all it caps at 3.6Ghz no matter what I do. Now I did send it back to scan and they tested it and got it to work fine but I try it on my system and have no joy. Because they only tested the motherboard CPU and ram I have a suspicion its the power supply as I am also running a rtx 2080ti and my power supply is old. Appreciate any help and suggestions.

Might be a PSU fault. It might be not providing enough power to the CPU for the overclock to be successful

As far as I know, a recent Windows update disabled overclocking on the 6800K.  Do some Google research before investing in a new power supply.

Thank you I've done some digging around seems all the fixes are short term fixes which is a shame
