Small question... Google hasn't turned up any quick get-to-the-point results so I'll ask here. 

 

If my laptop is running Windows 8 and my main desktop is running Windows 8.1, can I set-up homegroup between them?

(if not, any other good suggestions to stream stuff over the network easily?)

 

Edit: guess it's only really usable from Windows Media Player...

Shouldn't be an issue, just go into to the network and sharing center.

I had no issues setting up my homegroup with two Win 8.1 and one Win 7.

MOBO - Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0   CPU - AMD Phenom II X6 1055T @ 3.5GHz - Corsair H80i   RAM - 2x Corsair Vengence 4GB DDR3 @ 1666 MHz   

GPU - SAPPHIRE 100362-3L Radeon R9 290 4GB Tri-X OC  Sound - ASUS Xonar DSX  PSU - Thermaltake SMART M Series SP-850M 850W

i dont know about windows 8, but windows 7 required the pro version for most of the features. i have a file sharing group set, but thats just a network thing by unlocking all my hardrives for being accesed
