Computer is randomly freezing

I've had this problem for a while now but I need to address it. My computer is totally fine, and all the hardware properly installed and all that, but I keep having an issue I'm totally unable to pinpoint the cause of. For some reason, my computer will randomly have bars flash on the screen and will randomly freeze for a couple of seconds for no reason. It happens during both intensive and unintensive tasks. I believe the issue is either down to something to do with the CPU (8700K at 4.5Ghz, I've put it at stock, still happens) or something to do with drivers. Anyone know of a way to troubleshoot this, or possibly fix it altogether? Thanks in advance.
