Hiya, so this one isn't for me but more so for my friend but recently I wanted to help him set up OBS so he could record his perspective for me whenever we were separated on a game but after getting everything configured to what I know to be right, we were both hit with a black screen and we are unsure of how to fix it.

Specs:

GPU: GTX1060

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700

RAM: 16GB RAM

What are you using to capture your screen? Desktop capture? Window capture? Game capture?

Desktop and Window capture are usually the most successful for me.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Game capture is what we have tried. Haven't tried the others yet.

I would try window capture. Usually works the best with fullscreen games for me.

Tried all 3 options (Display, windowed and game) none of which are working and his software isn't capturing audio from us

Have you restarted since installing OBS? Display capture should work no matter what.

Can you add images or video media? What about a browser source?

For the audio issue, just go to settings, then Audio, then select your headphones as audio out and your mic as audio in. That's a simple one.

Display does work until he opens up the game we plan on playing (in this case is Minecraft win10 edition)

Are you selecting the game in window capture? I've got a funny feeling that Minecraft win10 edition might be a DRM game that doesn't allow screen recording. Try another game or windowed program, or Minecraft running in windowed mode instead of fullscreen.
