Hi all,

I'm looking into a build for a friend. Budget is around 1000 euro in the Netherlands and I came up with this:

Or I was thinking this:

What do you guys think? Any other recommendations? He's very keen on the case so that cannot change. His GPU is a MSI 1070, no storage needed.

Cheers.

New CPUs in a couple months, worth the wait if your friend is patient.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Yess, I told him. He's not ;)

In that case just go with Ryzen so he has an upgrade path, and maybe cut the PSU down to 650 watts, a more reasonable wattage, if saving money matters. Also, is storage covered? It's not on the lists, nor GPU.

Yeah, that was my thoughts too. Alright I'll look into the PSU. Yes, GPU and storage is covered.

What GPU is in there already? Would be good to know if its a current GPU or an older one to which higher end CPU might be a bit of overkill.

Also is this case mandatory? Its far overpriced and stupidly heavy (looking at about 20kg on the case alone)

I would go with a cheaper cooler/psu and put the savings towards a better board such as the ASRock X470 Taichi especially if you want to upgrade to an 8+ core in the future.
