Compaq Presario 2500 CPU Upgrade

Hey guys, last week I bought a retro laptop for "retro stuff" and I have upgraded ram and inserted a hard drive because it was not having, well, it had a pentium 4 at 2.00ghz and it was on socket 478, I took out of the closet a box with old desktop pentium 4 processors and PC old parts and I found a 2.80ghz CPU, I was thinking "will a desktop CPU work on a laptop? " and actually it worked, well, I want to see how far I can go, as you know, it is not so easy to upgrade CPU on laptops, and I want to find the best one to fit in without assembling and disassembling laptop again and again. How to find the best and higher clock speed CPU for this laptop? I cannot find any website talking about that, I found only for ram support (the 2.8ghz CPU was a pentium 4)
