Mouse/Mousepad for Accuracy

Go to solution Solved by Osmium,

Thanks, i will keep that in mind :)

Also, is there a big difference between wired and wireless? Or is that a myth?

9/10 times wired will probably be better but wireless has improved in the last few years. the G700s by logitech I hear has little to no latency however it is laser anyway so I would stay away from it.

Hey everyone, simple question, just looking for opinions. :)

I have recently built myself a gaming rig, and as much as i love all the games i have played (i mainly play fps games), i find my accuracy to be rather poor.
I am currently using a cheap WIRELESS logitech laptop mouse, and it is very small and light, and therefore hard to have a steady aim. I am also using an old plastic intel mousepad, which is creased and dented.
What i'm asking is, since i am short for money right now, will buying a new gaming mousepad such as the Steelseries Qck gaming mousepad help improve my accuracy?

Or is a new wired gaming mouse needed if i want a good experience. Or even both?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

Also, i am looking at these two mice if i do need a new one.

Is this a little pricey for a mouse? Or would spending more be worth it? Thanks :)

I love my qck. But honestly, get a new mouse first. It doesn't even have to be expensive. I haven't used either of those mice, so I won't comment other than that people seem to really like the Steel Series one.

Any recommendations? I would like it to be black, and not have many buttons as i mainly play FPS games, just good accuracy :)

Id you'd like you can PM me and I can discuss improving aim in a lot more depth than I can type right here. I am not a pro player or anything but I know a lot about fps.

But from a hardware standpoint you need two things for maximum accuracy. The first is a massive mousemat in the form of a steelseries QCK heavy, QCK+, or a Razer Goliathus. Those are the best but they won't vary from each other much except for size.

As for a mouse you need an optical mouse. Laser mice almost always have built in acceleration which can and will wreck your aim. I reccomend the Razer Deathadder, the Steelseries Rival, and the logitech G400s for mice. They all support diffrent grip styles and I would reccomend you try all of them but if you can't afford to order 3 and return 2 then you can just eyeball the one that you think would be the most comfortable. All 3 have perfect tracking so don't worry about that when choosing one of those.

Get a G400s, a new mouse is much more important than a pad

Thanks for the advice :) Don't like the look of that mouse though, and i'm a sucker for aesthetics lol.

Thanks for the feedback. I have heard mixed opinions about whether optical or laser is better. I heard that both are good, so wouldn't need to worry too much about it?

No. Laser is inferior. The only thing laser has over optical is dpi which contrary to popular belief is a measure off sensitivity rather than accuracy. More dpi does not mean more accuracy.

Optical rarely has acceleration unless the firmware of the mouse specifically adds it in which is pretty uncommon.
