Saw a guy used plasti dip to waterproof under kitchen sink cabinet. You can get it here in the UK but it costs £16 with delivery.

BM Store sell plasti-kote which I am not sure will do the same thing.

Will Plasti Kote do the same thing?

Going to buy a new under sink cabinet. I want a rigid one in white. Dimensions have to be 100cm width, 60cm depth and about 85.5cm in height with legs (which I think are all adjustable). It MUST be RIGID with a back wood piece that is not the cheap crappy thin board. I think the good cabinets come with 15mm backing wood. Anyone know where I can get exactly this?

A few links:
BM Store Plasti Kote products (not sure if I navigated to the full prodcut list or not): https://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/diy/paint/interior-paint/spray-paint

Guy waterproofed his cabinet in USA using Plasti Dip: http://fishermanswifefurniture.blogspot.com/2013/09/waterproofing-under-sink.html

Yes that should work in theory but if properly installed the faucet will not have a leak and require this secondary solution.

Which will work? There are 2 brands of products and different types of sprays under each brand. Please re read my post. Also you missed my question about where I can get that carcass as described from

Plasti-dip is a rubberized spray none of those in the BM store are acceptable as they are just paint, check your local hardware stores as most with have either plasti-dip or a equivalent product like Flexi-dip or Flex seal.

Plasti-kote is a brand not a product line itself all of those are just standard spray paint, they have bed liner in their product series which is waterproof in the sense of what you want to use it for.

Not so good with continued moisture (cracks). Probably just use silicone sealant (around the edges, no use putting it everywhere). If you want to waterproof the whole cabinet, resin would probably be best. (Well, bitumen is best, but that’s for outdoor use).

If you’re pretty worried, maybe just replace the wood with proper treated wood, which is water resistant anyway.

LOL imagine putting silicone sealent EVERYWHERE. That sounds like an utter nightmare and pretty much impossible.

Here are many other ideas on waterproofing cabinets. Any of them viable?:https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/158751955588287319/

Also who said plasti dip cracks? It is used on cars. I just want to protect the wood from the occasional leak that may happen (we had water in the cabinet recently (replacing it) and in the past. Mold galore and damaged wood. When the leak is slow and no one bothers checking to see if the cabinet is wet or not, bye bye old cabinet, hello new cabinet. Cha ching/ Money down the drain.

Plasti Dip on cars will be exposed to lots of rain a lot, so surely if people are using it on their cars then its not cracking?

It is used on rims, it’s a very smooth surface. On wood, it probably won’t be that great. On this sort of stuff cheaping out isn’t a good idea.

If you want to protect the wood, you use varnish, if you want to waterproof it, you use resin.

Explain how the top surface being smooth would make it unsuitable for wood please
