So I have a EVGA SC 1070, work fine for now. I also have a i7-8700k, this of course has a iGPU integrated. Now my question is, can I use the iGPU to render a low demanding game and use the 1070 for my normal gaming at the same time? So have to iGPU render it all and output it through the 1070 so it has to do only minimal rendering (if possible none at all). My idea was having an instance of Universe Sandbox 2 on my third monitor (rarely ever use if for anything more then task manager and CAM) so I just have something pretty to look at ? While on this subject of having something fancy to look at, is it possible to use the render of US2 as the wallpaper? This way I can still put CAM and/or task manager on top of it so I can monitor temps and clock speed easily? (I think I put it in the right category, if not oops and sorry)

You're probably thinking why would you want this. Good question. Answer is simple. I have a screen with a lot of space I'm not using so I would rather have something pretty to look at instead of a simple wallpaper.

Thanks guys!

Easier resolve spend $3.99 on Steam and get Wallpaper Engine or find another way to get it for moving background.

I know this is an option. But the problem is it would be rendering it on the 1070, I don't want that. I want it to render on the iGPU from the i7

Ill try to look a bit deeper into it for you.

Thanks! When I'm home I'll check if my motherboard has an option in the bios to enable the iGPU. I believe some have this option. I hope I can then choose which GPU to use for rendering certain programs (like on a notebook with dual GPU)

Assuming there’s another monitor and you open the game in the correct window. Technically the igpu will have to render what’s being displayed.

You mean like connect the third screen to the display output on the motherboard and thus using the iGPU? Pretty sure that doesn't work if a dedicated GPU (my 1070) is installed. I'll try though

Update: I tried it, it just stays black. Computer doesn't detect it whatsoever. And also, say it works or I get it working, won't that cause all kinds of bad glitches and stuff when moving programs across the screens? I mean when I put something on the other monitor, all of the sudden it has to be rendered by a different GPU. I don't see how that could possibly be smooth unless the 1070 still does all the work and the iGPU is only used for the connection and thus doesn't render anything

Do you know how to turn on the igpu? Because I’m pretty sure it does work as I used a card and cpu in every one of my rigs. And the igpu has to be used if the monitor is in it.

It does give an issue moving stuff across the screens but you shouldn’t be moving games across them anyway. You want it, so you’ll have to deal with the issues with it.

No I don't want to deal with that ? I feel like there is a way to just use it like you would in a notebook. And yes there probably is a way to turn it on and use it, that's not uncommon. I just want it to render stuff but not  output it to a monitor, but to the 1070 so that can do final rendering and then output it.

Then turn on the igpu and select it in the game if it can. Only way that’s gonna happen
