Is this good value?

Hey, 

 

I need a laptop for colage. I was wandering about Zenbook 3 deluxe UX490UA (i5 7. G,...). 

I just want something with thunderbolt(s) and this one seems pretty good. What I dont like is that 7. G CPU. 

 

What do you think? I have an offer for brand new one for aprox. 1000 $.

not sure what 7. G is, are you referring to the i7 model or the 3.7GHz turbo of it?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Those are both eighth-gen CPUs, 4C/8T. Both are very solid.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

And sadly I am from Czech republic and we have a little bit diferent pricing here. For example the cheapest X1 carbon costs around 2500$ which is like 1,75 of average salary.

May I know why you need TB3?

 

Budget in your country currency? Any links of online stores?

 

Usage? Any preference on display size and battery life? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradable RAM?

TB3 because  of eGPU and one cable system atc. I just love the idea.

 

My budget is about 24000 czk (about 1000$) https://www.alza.cz/ here is an online store.

 

I will be doing mainly programming and light gaming (with the eGPU), I prefer display size for 13' to 14' , battery life for usual school stuff, prefer upgradable RAM.

 

I found Thinkpad T480 i5, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD, and they claim that it can last for 9 hours. This Thinkpad is about 950$.

FYI most laptops with upgradable RAM don't have good sRGB display and TB3. If you really need TB3, you might want to sacrifice upgradable RAM
