Hiya, guys

Looking for a 17 incher. Buying in UK, EU. Budget around 1500gbp 1700euro

Gtx 1060 is not good enough, has to be 1070. 2070 seems too expensive

Dont care about size or weight. Most important is performance

Was looking at omen, asus gl700, msi

Thoughts?

Cheers Dave

Hey man thanks

Just read on 2060 seems to be slower 10% to 1070 and more expensive

So asus and msi are bad?

Omen seems to have different names for same specs.does it matter which?

Depends on which 2060 variant (80W or 90W) and the games. Prices vary in different regions, therefore 2060 laptop can be cheaper or more expensive than 1070 laptop

No suitable models within your price range

As long as it is Omen 17-an and has 8750H+1070, yes it doesn't matter

this is a decent choice, though you need to be aware of MSI inconsistent QC+QA

Better in which aspect? In general, on par I would say, however it's much heavier

What's QC+QA? Is it a specific model? It seems to say 8RF for the 1070

Omen is worth a consideration but it's 1600 Pounds on OCUK with 8GB RAM and GP73 is 1350 (with 16GB RAM). Although Omen was 1500 at one time, still it's 150 difference for less RAM

LOL! Was in similar situation but was also considering Asus FX.

Went for the MSI.

Asus GL can't seem to handle a 1070 and Omen has worse screen. My point of view if you don't yank the MSI around it should be durable.

Have a look on overclockers, computeruniverse, pccomponentes, pcspecialist and cyberpower. Also Amazon (most sellers don't deliver to my location).

Today's latest laptop usually overheat but if you get it from HIDevolution and choose "Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut + Fujipoly Extreme Thermal pads" then you'd be fine. They have great quality control as they stress test the machines using synthetic benchmarks AND actual gaming sessions to ensure your laptop would work 100% out of the box. In addition, you'll get lifetime tech support from them for free which in my experience is miles better than any OEM tech support.

If you email donald@hidevolution.com you might be able to get a small discount. He was my sales guy and gave me very honest advice not like your typical salesman who just wants to get the most money out of you.
