Confused about Audio Interfaces

Valaron

I'm admittedly very new to anything involving high end audio, but my understanding was that we wanted to avoid using USB for audio equipment yet all that I can find in the range of audio interfaces is USB ones.

Could someone please explain what I'm missing, or recommend a better option to connect a XLR microphone to my PC.

USB is fine. Not sure where you heard you want to avoid USB. Thunderbolt is preferable for lower latency but on any half decent computer you'll be able to get around 16ms with USB.Any cheap Focusrite or Audient (the preferred option lately it seems) will work just fine. Install the ASIO drivers and you'll be off
