How to disable update popups/notifications from Glasswire- WIndows 10?

I have Glasswire(free), and I find it really annoying to close the update popup, which comes up every time I turn on my PC(and also every few hours).
Now I assume I can turn it off, if I get Premium, but I have no need for a premium subscription.

I have tried to do a web search on this, but did not get anything relevant as most search results show me how to disable 'Windows update popups'. I have looked around the Glasswire software itself, and there seems no option to turn of update reminders.

Hence, I was looking for some way to disable it by some registry-editing-magic or something along those lines.

Or Spend the $12 on a used RasPi or use an old PC to make a PiHole, completely removing the need for GlassWire

  • 1 year later...

"This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one."
I considered that, but my keyword search in Google brought this link up on the first page. If I start a new thread then a Google search might put my new thread on page 9 or 20 or more. I would like to extend this thread with a solution that worked for me.

The "Update" nag pop's up when I turn on my desktop PC which runs Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit. As soon as my wireless connection "connects" I get the popup nag to update, and then occasionally throughout my time on the PC the nag will popup intermittently.

ItsJohhnys comment about the registry got me to thinking and so I went to the registry and changed a setting at this location:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2814009452-2728068111-2007712164-1000\Software\GlassWire (Where "S-1-5-21-2814009452-2728068111-2007712164-1000" is your personal SID identifier)......... or upon opening the Registry go to "Edit > Find > type in "Glasswire" (without the quotes) > click the "Find Next" button and the very first search result should land you at the location I described!

In the right panel of the "Glasswire" Key, Under the Column "Name", you see "LastInstallationVersion". Under the "Data" column you'll see the version you have installed (e.g. 2.1.152)

Double click on the "LastInstalledVersion" and change the numbers to the most recent version from the Glasswire website (e.g. 2.2.201.46) and click OK. You may have to go to the website and locate the latest version!

This action will change all the other registry keys concurrently. Close out of the Registry and reboot. The nag should be gone because it thinks it is the latest version.

It has been several hours with no nag. I rebooted several times to try to get the nag but could not.

I might be proven wrong, but so far I consider this a success!
