So I'm looking to convert my older OptiPlex 780 MT. I already have the Dimms maxed out, and I plan on install a new power supply and gfx card. Anyone have any ideas on any good emulationstation builds and what cards are supported? I was thinking about a gtx 750 ti, but I'm not sure if its compatible. Oh and wanting to us a Linux distro too.

Are you looking for something more or less ready to go out of the box or are you more into diying the OS and systems together a bit?

Lakkas supposed to be pretty stable, I've only tested it out in a vm for a little bit. Usually I load up some flavor of buntu and start loading stuff in from scratch.

what emu are your target?

750ti is fine for all emu now available,

as for cpu is the tricky part.

PS2 intel i5

ps3 - you need many cores i7 8700 or better

Just looking to go For PS1 and N64 and older. Nothing too new. The machine only has a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. Are their any known issues with linux distros and nvidia cards? I would probably have better luck with building the emulation station on top of something like Ubuntu, right?

Never heard of lakka. I will have to take a look at it. Do you know if 750 ti are supported? I know recalbox has a limited support for cards.

for ps1 & n64 , sad to tell you that integrated graphics on cpu is enough .

they had no issues running on windows from xp to 10.

750 ti should be supported but if its not I know nvidia has both good in house and open source drivers for linux so even if it didn't you could probably patch support in without a lot of trouble.

Also with that card you would likely be able to run up to wii and ps2 games without much issue.

Eh I'd rather not have a desktop experience with this machine, do it only being hooked up to my TV and used like a console. Though with a linux build, I can remotely manage the machine via putty. Probably going to look at Lakka or something similar. Just trying to make sure that the software and hardware will work together fine. I had previously set up recalbox on a Insprion laptop with a i7-4510U, but it had this weird stuttering issue. So that machine is now a Ubuntu Backup server lol.

Just for other's info, looks like the 750 ti is a little more beastly that I had personal thought. But this set up has a i5.

And there is also an entry on this page for the E8400 running Cemu with some stutter(probably cpu bottleneck). So If I upgrade the CPU to the quad core verison for this socket, I might be able to make it into a beastly little machine on the cheap. Thoughts?
