Project: Dark Tower

darktower.jpg.60758af69212405d894fb6457ec34768.jpg

I was looking at the art of the LOTR movies the other day and got inspired by the Mordor design to build an ITX tower heavily inspired by it.

As of know, the theme of the build color wise will be most BLACK with red accents the fittings that will most likely get painted and aged. the front panel will be modded for added airflow for the top fan and the bottom Rad fans also allowing a bit of light shining through.

I'm also going to build custom cables for the motherboard and the GPU using paracord sleeving cables will be black and red.

Parts for the build:

AMD - Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor
ASRock - AB350 Gaming-ITX/ac Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard
Corsair - Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
Samsung Evo 970 plus NVME m.2 1TB
MSI - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11 GB ARMOR Video Card
Phanteks - ENTHOO EVOLV SHIFT X Mini ITX Tower Case

Corsair - SF 600 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular SFX Power Supply
Corsair - LL120 RGB LED 43.25 CFM 120mm Fan x2
Corsair - LL140 RGB LED 51.5 CFM 140mm Fan x2

Corsair Commander PRO
Corsair RGB Fan LED Hub
Corsair Lighting Node PRO

for the loop:

EK-FC1080 GTX Ti TF6 - Acetal+Nickel

Supremacy EVO

EK-D5 res-pump combo

EK-RES Tube 250mm

EK 16mm Nickel Fittings

Thermal Take Petg 16mm tubing

EK Coolstream PE 240mm Rad

EK Coolstream PE 120mm Rad

EK Cryofuel Solid RED

updates coming soon with the first concept drawings, I will be documenting all the build with photos in this thread and finish it off with a full video. I will skip the usual product box and unboxing photos as this is not sponsored by anyone ? (though that would have been cool) and just go straight to the build.

  • 4 weeks later...

i been playing around with fitting all the parts. this is my last attempt. i ran out of 16mm petg tube, i may order more and try to do 2 90 bends on the tube from the RAD to the GFX and try to get it parallel to the other tube.

next step i will paint the RADs red and the grill leave black. i will also be painting all the fittings red.

sorry for the delays updating this project, I had a few health issues and I just stopped working on this project for a bit.

here are the latest updates on how it's turning out after painting the rads and the fittings and doing some aging on them.

i still need to finish working on the front and back panel mods for airflow, this case panels are surprisingly thick and my dremmel died mid-work.

this was all components I had from other things, not being used so no money saved on anything.

I just actually updated my workstation, and my prev workstation will be used to update my unraid array and that is going to free up a 8700k in a Mini-ITX board that will probably now find a home in this build.
