Switch digitizer/touch screen replacements not functioning

torrey

I had a huge scratch on my switch, so I just replaced the digitizer. The new digitizer didn't work except about an inch from the left side, none in the middle, and kinda on the right side. The touch test proved this. So i requested a refund on the new one, and bought another brand from amazon. Same exact thing on the 2nd new one.

Obviously this is a user error, so what am I doing wrong? Or did I somehow get 2 defective screens from 2 different brands.

I did notice the OEM has a proprietary foam padding around the edge of the visible screen, which the replacements do not have.

Far as I remember, you can't just replace the digitizer or the glass. There is a special bonding process at the factory that you cannot replicate in your home. Thus you will have dead spots as a result. Replace the whole screen as a unit and you should be fine.

Also your replacements are not the digitizer, rather just the "interactive" screen protector for the touch surface. Edit: the Switch might be different on that part. But my original statement still stands. That's what I remember back when I used to replace phone screens in votech.
