Is my motherboard overheating?

Good Morning All,

 

I am quite experienced when it comes to overclocking however, this is the first time I've encountered a problem where my motherboard is overheating before my CPU. I have a couple questions regarding my recent tests. I currently have an overclock on my Ryzen 5 2600 of 4.1 GHz. The cpu remains cool but there's something on my motherboard which heats up to almost 76C while under load, Is this too much heat for a motherboard? I know I should have an x370 or x470 but I don't at the moment. Any experienced users on here know which component on the board this could be?

 

In addition, HW Monitor is showing my cpu boosting to 4.9 GHz. Is this a correct report?

Are you telling us you're running that CPU overclocked to 4+ on such a low end board that doesn't even have a heatsink on the VRM-s?

Man, you're living on the edge, risking a lot. Your VRM-s must be suffering, a lot. At least add a fan to blow on them directly if nothing else.

3 deployments to Kandahar, Afghanistan with the Battle Group is living on the edge. This is just overclocking a computer. This little B350 board has held its own, I was interested to see how far I could push it.

Living as a small kid in a war region where civilian rights aren't even considered by one of the warring sides is living on the edge. Been there done that.

Luckily I did not lose a family member but I have relatives and friends who did. Now let's get back to the computer talk.

 

Just overclocking a computer. Right. WRONG. If you want to do it right, you do it right. Like everything in life.

The little board won't hold much longer if you keep pushing it that hard, it's not designed for that.

So I guess you're saying that ,yes, 76C is too much heat for the motherboard?

 

Do you figure it is the VRM's which are reaching that temp?
