the VS power supply series is shit, when you run aida64 what stress test are you running when it crashes?

its probably the PSU try removing the GPU overclock if it still crashes get a CX550M

Hello

I recently upgraded my PC , below are the previous and after configuration.

Previously:

Cpu- Intel Pentium g3258

Motherboard- Asus b85m-k

Ram- Hyperx fury 16gb ddr3

Gpu- strix 960 2gb

Storage- 1x Seagate barracuda hdd

                 1x Seagate sshd

                  1x Kingston's SSD 120gb

Case fans- 4x Corsair sp 120 DC

Cpu fan: cm hyper 212 Evo led

Psu- Corsair vs550

After:

Cpu- Intel i5 8400

Mobo- Asus rog strix h370-f gaming

Ram- Corsair vengeance lpx 16gb (8x2) ddr4

Storage- m.2 wd 250gb SSD 2280

Cpu fan- cm hyper 212 black edition

P.s a other parts remain the same.

Ever since the upgrade my PC reboots itself during load like GTA v for 40 mins with GPU usage 98% or more.

Yes GPU is oced.

I really don't have any more money left after spending on upgrade and really don't wish that 550w is less for the new parts.

Can somebody help me out here.

I had this exact problem.

I had a Gtx 970 and every time I played Gta V after like half an hour the computer was rebooting

I didn't know that much on computers when it happened so I don't remember the exact cause of it

but the solution was replacing the GPU. Might be something else for you.

It's not the GPU buddy, I had that thought and it even reboots itself just running with cpu under load. Like aida64 for couple of minutes.

I have ordered a PSU tester to clear my doubt about it because after all the PSU is quite old and has been through hell of a time in my old home and is only 80+ white certified if I recall correctly. I hope it isn't but who knows.... If anyone else got any thing in mind please help me out here.

And I have recently done a clean windows installation too.

After putting in the 24pin and 8pin EPS into PSU tester it shows me -5v and +3.3v missing.

Does that mean I literally have to replace the PSU?

That looks to be what it is. That being said I stumbled on this thread troubleshooting a friend's PC with the same problem. For him it ended up being the SATA power for his secondary drive wasn't plugged in all the way, so when running anything outside of his OS and drivers the PC would end up rebooting without warning or an error screen. Personally I would just double and triple check the connections for everything in the PC before spending any money.

Okay, I'll do that but on the other hand could something be wrong with my Graphics card? Since PC only reboots when under load..

the test alongside aida64 is heaven valley. aida64 on cpu and heaven valley on gpu and using msi afterburner for temps monitoring.

if its the PSU, im just gonna go with a Corsair RMX 1000W. unless you have better suggestions, because evga is expensive and cooler master is out of stock.

someone will have a cheaper suggestion, but if you can afford it go with the RMx its high end.
