ARGB Compatibility

MasterK

I'm am trying to build a pair of PCs that I want to RGB like crazy. My problem is the compatibility. In my many hours of searching I have found that all ARGB devices have a 5v, data, and ground pin, and that the only noticeable difference is the physical location of those pins in relation to one another. I have found passive adapter cables and ARGB fans that work with all the "standards". I have not been able to find anyone that has simply changed the pinouts to see if they could make an aura sync fan sync with a fusion controller, or any similar combination. So my question is, are the different ARGB standards actually proprietary or these companies just moving the pins around to make things more difficult?
