Best 1080p 24in 144Hz monitor under 300€

leyo96

Hello,

I'm looking for a new gaming monitor and can't decide which one to pick.

I already have a really good 27in 4k monitor so this monitor would be purely for gaming.

Panel performance (response time) comes before picture quality (it's my second screen), but if I can get something with decent colors and contrast it'd be better.

I don't care about the stand, I'm going to use a Vesa mount.

After few researches I ended up with this list of monitors:

-Samsung C24FG73: 243€

-AOC G2460PF: 240€

-Asus VG248QE: 232€

-Asus VG248QE (USED): 160€

-Acer XF240H: 273€

-Viewsonic XG2402: 247€

-LG 24GM79G: 258€

-MSI Optix MAG24C: 273€

-MSI Optix MAG241C: 208€

-Viewsonic XG2401: 222€

Tell me which one would you pick and why. Feel free to give other suggestions.

Thank you!!

If you insist on 24" then you might as well get a 24 or 25" 240hz monitor alto you will rarely see a FPS that high so its kinda pointless.  Also there is no real difference unless you do eSports for hours a day then maybe you can tell a difference.

get either Asus VG248QE or Acer XF240H

Samsung C24FG73 has the best color (way above those 2), but slower response time compared those 2

get the Viewsonic XG2402 @Untitled VG248QE looks like a rly bad choice why would you recommend this? read here and here this monitor is outdated even for a TN. Or if you can find the succesor of XG2402 the XG240R (RGB, no red accents, faster RT). And for 240hz monitors better not, a144Hz monitor 140fps looks better than a 240Hz 140fps read this topic for more info. MSI MAG and CFG73 have VA panels you get better colors but slow RT (CFG73>MSI if you want colors but keep in mind that CFG73 freesync range is 70-144 and MSI is ~40-144, can`t remember but you can google. and MAG241C panel is better than MAG24C but MAG24C have a better stand with  tilt, swivel, and height adjustment)

I already have a 27 in 4k 60hz, 24in 1080p it's a better "competitive gaming" monitor and I don't have too much money to spend

Other than when I play cs go I won't need it so I want to spend less money

the XG240R

unfortunately not available in italy.

Am I gonna notice a significant difference with a VA panel vs TN?

I've never tried a 144hz monitor and I play with a 4k IPS 60hz 4ms GTG monitor (BenQ BL2711U) at 1080p since my laptop is shit for gaming.

Nevertheless since I'm spending 2k€ total (I7 8700k and rtx2080) I want to get the best playing experience with fps games. Without going over 300€ since my budget is over.

Thanks

Not on your list, but I picked up an HP OMEN 25 for less than $200 US on sale.  Its my first 144hz screen as well, but the image is as good as any screen Ive owned yet.  Ive had it about a year and like it a lot.  From your list I would choose the AOC as Ive owned several of that brand and they have been great monitors.

If your on a budget ebuyer have their own brand of monitors.I can vouch for the 24 inch. I think it is a steal for the price really.

I've read some reviews that the hp omen 25 it's a fake 144hz.

Never seen any of those reviews (I take that back, there is a Reddit post).  <Wonder why I never looked there?

But I went and ran tests anyway, and they all pass at 144hz, lol.

FYI I'm replying in this older thread because it's a top search result.

I am very confused by that claim I quoted.

I'm on the 144hz XG2402. Overdrive (Rampage Response) is ON "Faster". Vsync is OFF.

In Talos Principle:

Freesync OFF, no frame limit, 160-190 FPS = not full tearing, but not smooth.

Freesync OFF + 144 frame rate limit = obvious tearing.

Freesync OFF + 141 frame rate limit = not full tearing but very obvious waves.

Freesync OFF + 120 frame rate limit = better, but not completely smooth.

Freesync OFF + 100 frame rate limit = smooth.

Freesync ON + 141 frame rate limit = smooth.

So what I learn from this testing is that having monitor hz significantly higher than your FPS is preferable, and negates the need for vsync or freesync.

Not being able to run games at 240+ FPS seems irrelevant. On a 240hz monitor you could simply cap your FPS at whatever is stable (say 150), and you'd have smooth gameplay.

What am I missing?
