Borderlands steam error

Hi guys I am currently having a problem with borderlands on steam when I try to start it.When I press play it starts to load for like 1 min then a "error general protection fault" appears.What can I do because I don't want my money to be wasted.And I really enjoy this game so please help me!

well,restart it if that doesnt work,then i think its your OS.

Restarted and reinstalled 3 times

Still same error
