Intel or AMD

Go to solution Solved by Cwazywazy,

If you want to save money, go AMD. If you have the money, go Intel. That's what I say. (I do prefer Intel/Nvidia quite a bit but my desktop has an AMD CPU for that reason.)

Intel Core i5-3570k - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80637i53570k

Or

AMD FX-8320 - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-fd8320frhkbox

Or

AMD FX-8350 - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-fd8350frhkbox

To run with a Radeon R9 290.

I'd prefer the FX-8320 if there isn't much performance difference but I'm willing to go to the 8350, or if Intel would be significantly better, I could go with the i5-3570k

I would say AMD for less cost and if you have the cash go intel.

Life is pain. Anyone who says any different is either selling something or the government.

Go with intel if you have the money. I tried both CPUs out with a 7950 and I did not like the frame dips I got with the 8320 @ 4.2ghz(basically an 8350), so I returned it and I got an i5 which had fewer frame dips and preformed way better on CPU intensive games such as Skyrim.

It is true that i5 performs much better in Skyrim, but it is because skyrim is not very multithreaded.

In any cpu intensive game that is multithreaded nicely ( no 100% load on 1 core) performs 8350 similarly like 4670k(on stock)
