Hello, this is semi tech related as I have been having an issue trying to get an Amazon account to purchase some upgrades for my son's computer. I was an eBay guy for the better part of a decade but with Prime and cheaper prices I finally decided to switch to Amazon.

I signed up using my cell number and tried to purchase headphones. I entered my card info and signed up for Prime as well. I signed into prime and looked around and left it at that. Because I had prime I expected the headphones in 2 days. I went back on and signed in to check tracking. I could not log in. I tried resetting password etc. Finally I called support and he had to message account support to relay message. They finally after 1 hour on phone told me I needed to have an email and my account was closed and nothing could be done. I asked how exactly I could get account.i was told to redo it with a diff phone and email.

So I did. I used my house phone and email and set it all up again. I reordered headphones and again my account was frozen. This time they sent an email, ail asking me to verify billing address name etc.i did verify all. The next email stated the account was closed and they could not discuss it with me. I have sent numerous emails trying to ask what or why or how to get an account. This is quite mind boggling and customer service is some India/foreign person who has no access to accounts and just relays messages to Amazon.

Have any of you had or heard of this being an issue? Do any of you know a solution? I never thought it would be this big of a debacle to sign up. I am stuck as to how to proceed.

Thank you for any insight.

Did you verify the email was actually from Amazon? One of my general email accounts (not Amazon associated) gets TONS of emails all the time telling me I'm having issues with Amazon orders, orders cancelled, etc. and they are all fake. I've also been getting emails from various "banks" about my account being closed and having issues and tons of other junk in general lately.

I'm pretty sure it was. I'm at a loss on how to proceed. They made sure they took my money for Prime subscription but I'm not allowed to access my account. The customer service helpline is a joke. They merely message the real support and relay responses.

Are you sure you didn't go on Amazon.ca or Amazon.com?
