Is this a bad quality thermal paste?

Compared to the ridiculously affordable thermal paste from eBay, no difference with Pentium 4 or i5-3570.

But with laptops, compared to factory applied compound, temperatures drop slightly but fans are always near maximum. Experienced this behaviour with a 6 year old Toshiba and a 4 year old Lenovo.

If this is a bad thermal paste, can one suggest a significantly better one at a not significantly price difference.

The cooler master I think is pretty reputable quality thermal paste. There are probably better brands tho.

Also how are you using thermal paste on a laptop? Isn't it all glued together? I'd assume if you tore it apart and put it back together you might have a performance decrease.

With the Toshiba, I had to perform a complete disassembly of the machine for a repaste while the Lenovo was a simple remove bottom lid and heatsink/fan affair.
