pfSense bandwidth management

Hello everyone,

I’m running a router with pfSense and I’m trying to manage the download bandwidth somehow.

When someone in the network starts downloading something everyone else can get slowed down extremely, the internet can get almost unusable for everyone else sometimes.

So is it possible to give some clients a first rank priority or something similar?

Or maybe divide the bandwidth with everyone currently using it fairly?

Or maybe even a combination of both?

To cap everyone one a chosen bandwidth wouldn’t be a great solution.

I‘m not sure what I’m exactly searching for so a push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Just the right name for this problem would be great so that I can search it up.

A solution would be incredible.

I thank everyone for any help i can get.
