While playing rainbow six siege or any other game, by a loop sound for a second the display went off but i could still hear people talking in Discord. Then i had to hard reset. Happening only when playing games
This happened 2nd time today...
My pc is new (1 month) except the graphics card and psu
Specs-Ryzen 7 2700

Corsair Vs 650
Gigabyte Aorus B450 Elite
8 Gb Corsair 2400 mhz
and a gtx 970 which is 3 years old
Its been one month and had no problem but today only i had this problem. The temps are just fine.
This used to happen in my older pc with same gpu and psu from this one which was an i3 and a gigabyte h61 mobo.
But when it used to happen in my older pc, after black screen i had to hard reset and the windows boots but no display , that was because of a ram ..... But here the computer boots fine after black screen...
For me it happens randomly , so its kinda hard to predict when the next black screen will occur.
Its like once in 3 days or so.
Please help !

sounds like your gpu if its just an issue with your display and everything locks up/loops for a few seconds, could be from a faulty power supply and/or the gpu crashing from various reasons, such as power, old age, drivers etc.

does the issue only happen under load when playing games?

maybe try changing drivers or using another pcie power cable if your psu has one spare, otherwise try another psu or gpu

CPU: i5-4690k @ 4.4 GHz | RAM: 12GB DDR3 1333MHz | GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 580 4GB

As from my logic , it should be my gpu or psu for sure because my mobo , ram and cpu is new.....

And as i said this problem used to happen in my old pc which had the same psu and gpu..

Any specific way to know which one is causing the issue.

I dont have any spare parts so it could be a waste if i buy a psu now until im sure thats causing the problem.

As i said earlier it happens ocassionally , sometimes it wont happen even after playing 6 hours....

Run furmark on 4k highest settings overnight if you don't get a black screen it isn't the GPU, I don't think its the PSU but it could be. Did you use the same drive with windows and transplant it into the new PC?

run Furmark at 4k ultra 8x anti aliasing, if the cable supports it.

It needs to run longer than that to show any issues thats why i said run it overnight, as for temperatures use msi afterburner and set a lower temp like 65 or 70c so it doesnt cook the gpu.

have you applied some new thermal paste? its about time for that. And what model display are you using?

Furmark is useless for modern Systems and tests.

We need something else, something that loads the card differently.

3DMark 06 was one of those in the past. Maybe others.

The game, depending on it, is fine.

Furmark is useless for PSU diagnosis.

3DMark 06 was better for older systems, no idea how it is with more modern stuff.
