Ok so I seem to be having problems in Monster Hunter World. Running a 4690k slightly overclocked and a 1080.

With GSync on (freesync monitor, 29” LG ultra wide, 2560x1080) it seems to stick at 45fps. Would be kinda smooth but not really. Had the same problem in Destiny 2 but not other games.

I disabled the GSync and turned off Freesync on my monitor and now I’m mostly getting 75fps everywhere the game, but occasionally, ever maybe 10 mins, my FPS will drop to like 5 for like 5-10 seconds, or just flat out freeze then be back to normal. I've also tried, in the NVIDIA Control Panel, vsync off, on, adaptive, etc. Doesn't seem to make much of a change. Done the same in the game settings too.

My question is, how can I achieve stability either with or without GSync on? It’s annoying me beyond belief.

Under load my CPU seems to be at 65 degrees C and my GPU at max 75.

Apologies for any errors etc, on my phone. Thanks!

I take it the video card is not overclocked ?  If it is set it to stock speeds.  Also set your BIOS for testing purposes to stock clocks and settings.  Then  go to safe mode and run DDU " Display Drivers Uninstaller" and clean and restart and boots back into normal mode and now install the latest geforce drivers 418.xx  and let us know what happens.

Most probably after steps above your PC will be fixed and games will fly.  Just choose let application handle vsync,,,,,   You have high refresh rate so you won't notice too much tearing.

I play this game on mixed settings on my pc with an i5 3570 and 970.. what i noticed is that the game is optimized quite badly. Doing nothing and staring at nothing drops my cpu usage to around 70% and with combat and roaming, it goes up 100% despite not much happening. And if you're playing offline, the game handles lag in a way that when someone carts, the game just freezes for a bit. Okay on the problem, im using the frame limiter on rivatuner to cap at 60 while v-sync is turned off in nvidia cp and in game and it looks smooth to me

I'm happy to try it, but won't setting my BIOS back to default make my performance worse? I'd lose a 0.7ghz overclock on my CPU. I've already tried DDU and a clean driver installation. Happy to let the application handle VSync.

Not sure how relevant it is, but I play while watching streams on my second monitor on Twitch. Is that very impactful though?

Thanks for your responses.

Alright fair enough. Will do as you've said tonight and see if it makes any difference. Might try hooking my 2nd monitor up to my igpu and see if that makes any difference, or even just not watching a stream. I'll let you know how I go, ta

Turn Volume Rendering Quality to Off if you haven't already. It essentially gets rid of the fog, making for far more stable game play.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

Yeah I did that already. Plugging non primarymonitors into mobo rather than GPU essentially did nothing. Resetting bios and clean installing gpu drivers didn't do a whole lot either. I'm consistently around 55 fps in MHW when watching a stream on one of my additional monitors. Stream off, about 65-70fps. It's a pain
