First new build

Building a Gaming rig with the components: 

 

  CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K

  CPU Cooler: EVGA - CLC 280 Liquid Cooler

  Motherboard: MSI - MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON ATX

  RAM: Corsair - Vengeance LED 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory

  Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

  GPU: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB Xtreme Gaming

  Case: be quiet! - DARK BASE PRO 900 | ORANGE rev. 2 ATX Full Tower Case

  Power Supply: Corsair - TXM Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular

  Monitor: Acer 1920x1080 60Hz

   

Well you see I'm new to this and I don't really know if this is a good first build to run latest games such as The Division 2 or Anthem.

So any opinions on the components I have already selected? Or anything else?

Will it be enough to run latest games on max or near max settings? Is there a way to cut the budget for a better monitor?

For the refresh rate and resolution, the system is overkill as heck

 

look at a 2060 or RX 580

What's your budget? How much is the system?

Hard to say where to cut it without knowing the prices you're paying.

Ryzen 2700x, RTX2060 and add a SSD for boot and progs you use often - B450 gaming pro Carbon, and youll be fine. Could also look at a lower wattage PSU  (550w should be plenty, not sure on price difference(

Get a better monitor, or reduce your PC specs.  Those components can run 1080p 144Hz, your monitor is capping that at 60Hz, in effect wasting all that extra power.

 

Add an SSD of 240GB for Windows/programs at least.

Would still suggest my build. At least get a RTX card so you can benefit from anthem. Also get a boot ssd. You’ll thank us later not being stuck on a HDD. 

 

Also with intel pretty much every new gen you need a new MoBo. AMD at least backwards compatible till at least end 2020.

 Will an M.2 card that has a 250GB storage be enough instead of an SSD? And what component could I reduce the price of to get a better monitor so I don't have to waste the extra power?  And what monitor should I get because I don't really understand how to select a good enough monitor?

BFV and Anthem First games wijt Ray tracing and DLSS. The benefits of having this new RTX card. It has these ‘functionalities’. With anthem you’d definitely want it! As it supports ray tracing and I believe some DLSS as well, or with a future update 

 

m.2 is just a form factor, they are all SSD’s. I have a m.2 NVMe boot ssd and a normal sata ssd. 

 

Mobo = mother board :).
