So I made this build for a friend from D&D the budget for everything (including OS, keyboard, mouse, etc.) is ~$1100. He's going to be using his TV as his monitor, and he plans on doing both gaming and light editing. I just need to know what changes you guys would make or mistakes I made. Please ignore all the alts cases/headphones. and the RGB Fans aren't actually purchased, it's just an alt if he doesn't want black fans. Thank You.

Change the power supply to an EVGA G2, they're about 59$ right now

For 10$ more on the SSD, you can get a 500GB MX500

Don't buy windows, just use it without activating it or buy a key off ebay, 100$ is robbery

I'd drop those fans and get 1 or 2 decent noctuas or be quiet fans. Those will be deafening

basically all of these, except just get noctua/bequiet if youre using speakers or are really focusing on silence, but if youre just using headphones I suggest getting a few arctic f12's/f14's

I asked him if I could get something other than base windows and he said to get the base activation key. He's not adept at technology and so once we're done it needs to work without issue for years.

I actually have a different psu picked, because I said no rebates but this auto picked that 600B (I have the Rosewill ARC 550W picked at $40) Not to mention he wants 0 overclocking so as long as it isn't from a no-name brand I don't really care about the psu.

The current setup is 4 fans in a non overclocked system with Gigabyte smart fan control. I don't need noctuas at X3 price

the SSD is a fair point, but the mushkin is X3 faster (https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Crucial-MX500-500GB-vs-Mushkin-Pilot-NVMe-PCIe-M2-250GB/m418385vsm515464), and loading times are more important than storage to him and 250 is enough for the OS and a few games (rest of which can be put in the Barracuda)

That doesnt matter, a shitty power supply can come from a brand name and still blow up.

Then just don't buy windows and use it without activation, its not worth the 100$.

He won't see a difference in load times bewteen those two SSD's. The only place he'll see a difference is in applications where NVMe is utilized

@Slottr Yeah I just checked the difference in loading time in games and you're correct there it's a ~5% increase which isn't worth it, but what about video editing? (I actually don't know, like if it doesn't make a difference there either than I'm definitely changing)

I literally have no options in the windows activation situation, I've made the same argument you're making and he just wants full activated windows, I've tried there's nothing I can do about it.

and the ARC 550W isn't garbage, it has 650 reviews averaging 4 stars and it's 80+ bronze certified

The PSU is sorta the power that delivers your entire rig.  Almost the heart of your rig, along side motherboard.  Getting a cheapo Bronze or Gold is fine to do.  But if your building a hardcore gaming system or running HEDT then Bronze nor Gold will cut it imo

In editing yeah, it'll help. But if they're not editing often, then I don't see a huge reason behind it to pay the NVMe tax rather than SATA. Thats my opinion though

Regards to the power supply, amazon or whatever store, reviews arent the place to look for if a power supply is good or not. Check this list here

You want something from Tier S - ~B.

this isn't a hardcore gaming system tho... nothing is even being overclocked.

Just wanna make note: Just because it says gold on it, doesnt mean the parts inside the psu are good, just means the thing is power efficient

@Slottr Alright then where do you suggest I cut from in order to fit the better PSU into the budget, because he said I was already pushing it by going $20 over. and please note the expected wattage of the system is 269 Watts, so it's not like the system is going to even push a 550W PSU.

Cut the graphics card down to an 8GB RX 580, they won't need a 2060 to play 1080p 60hz, CX500M definitely isnt a top of the line supply, but its much better than the Rosewill.

I also changed the case to something with more airflow and took out the cheap fans to and threw in one arctic F12
