windows narrator issue

Every time i go to log in when my pc screen is off (pc is still on but screen is in a black mode, like screen saver) i press space to get to type my password and when i get to the 2nd charactor in my password (o) the key dosent register and the if i press the 3rd character (h) windows narrator pops up and i have to shut it off than the keys work again and i can log in. Im on windows 8 (not 8.1) OEM
