Hi!

My boot drive is a Samsung 970 Pro 512 GB. I recently noticed that on benchmarks, my SSD was performing half as quickly as it should have been. This was because I'd installed it in a PCIe 2.0 M.2 slot (I had chosen this slot because the PCIe 3.0 M.2 slot was under my GPU. I moved my SSD to the PCle 3.0 M.2 slot, but now get a inaccessible boot device error when I boot my machine. In the BIOS, my machine seems to recognize the SSD, and the boot order seems correct. I put my SSD back into the PCIe 2.0 M.2 slot, and could boot properly from there, so I don't think it's a problem with my SSD. My motherboard is a MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon. Some help/advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Do you have any other HD?

Did you tried doing a backup to an HD and then formating the HD on the connector near the GPU and then moving the files and OS back into the SSD?

I've seen some of these problems, and it should be able to boot.

I don't have another HD yet! I will be getting one soon though. Is there anything I could try before then?

Did you tried clearing the CMOS?

I did, but that didn't help. I also tried removing the CMOS battery.

It worked out though! I managed to boot in Safe Mode, and that somehow fixed it. Thanks for your help!

Finally and i'm glad it worked, if you need anything we're here to help.
