Outside of actually getting to those frames, what are actual problems with 240hz and why do people call them a meme?

because it is a relativly minor improvement of 144hz. 

 

going from 60 to 144 is huge, going from 144 to 240 is smaller. 

 

 

other than that there arent many real problem

No problems, they're 1080p and TN so if you don't care about that no other drawbacks. Not sure who calls them a meme, they probably didn't try them. 

Yes 60 to 144hz is a huge jump then 144 to 240hz is. 240hz is noticable though and only worth it if you're really serious about competitive fps though otherwise no need to upgrade from 144hz.
