Is it worth upgrading?

Hey there, I need some advice!

(If this post is in the wrong place please let me know and I will move it)

I have been thinking about upgrading my CPU or GPU but I'm not sure if it will be worth it. My goal for this is better gaming and more so a higher quality stream.

My current CPU is an i7-7700k and I am thinking about grabbing an i9 9900k because my buddy tells me the higher core count will relieve some stress on my PC for streaming while allowing me to stream in higher quality.

My current GPU is a evga 1060 6gb and I have been thinking about grabbing a new evga 2070 (it's around the same price as a 1080). Some of my display ports on the back of the 1060 card are no longer working.

What's currently in my PC: 1060 6gb, i7 7700k, 16gb ram, Intel SSD for OS and 10tb HDD.

So my question for you is, which should I upgrade if any? Also, would the i9 really help with the streaming? Or am I just trying to spend money because I have some right now (I guess that's more of a question for myself though XD)?

Thank you for your help in advance!

Worth is subjective, so only you can answer if it's worth it or not.

I'd maybe consider getting an 8700k. Or 9700k, depending on the price you can get them for. It'll still be an improvement.

you can get a surprising amount of your money back on the 7700k selling it on Ebay.

how do you even have a 7700k in a Z390 board? I didn't think they where backward compatible.

personally I would wait, I don't think the pricepoint of the 9900k is even remotely justified, I'd hold out to see what Ryzen 3000 comes in looking like sometime mid year (most likely), thats what i'm doing with my 6700k system.
