Hi

With a 2070 and a 3440 X 1440 monitor you are good for 60fps on most titles. That is what I got running a GTX 1080.  For an average of 100fps you will need a 2080 ti.

Unless you are playing esports games and need the frames, 1080 is not a good goal at any aspect ratio. There are not enough vertical pixels. You can always drop the resolution to get more frames.

I use 2 GTX 1080 tis for my 3440 X 1440 rig but 1 puts it in the 80s on most titles.

To give you an idea of what kind of power it takes to run 21:9 1080p and 1440p here are my Metro Last Light results with my GTX 1080 ti with max settings.

2560 X 1080 = 118fps average.

3440 X 1440 = 84fps average.

I recently build a new gaming system, long overdue, and I am now wondering what to do with my monitor. I want to go ultra wide, 16:9 is too small for me these days. I found 2 common resolutions but with a different of HZ difference. Higher hz and higher resolution screens are alot more expensive.

I found this:

LG 34UC79G-B

a 34inch 2560x1080 monitor that runs at 144hz, it costs 479 euros.

Or

Acer ED347CKR

a 34inch 3440x1440 monitor that runs at 100hz, it costs 479 euro.

I used the nvidia control panel to push BFV to 2880x1620 and it runs pretty good on high settings, average 105 FPS.

Currently using a ACER XF240H 1920x1080p 144hz monitor.

System specs:

Ryzen 7 2700x

16gb ddr4 3200mhz

RTX 2070 gigabyte non OC
