Need some help with VoIP stuff

Hi,

I've been looking to use a Cisco phone (probably 7970 or 7971 with SIP firmware) for phone calls using sipgate. 

I know I'd have to use and patch Asterisk but how exactly do I go about setting the whole thing up (phones, SIP trunking, etc.)?

I've found barely any information online.
