headphones Amp

I need a AFFORDABLE 600 ohm headphone amp or audio interface for my new beyerdynamic dt 990 pros black edition. I have looked everywhere and only found a very expensive Soundblaster X7. I think optical output is the best and I can’t find one with that type of connections. I need your help and I have a question. What’s the best audio connected RCA or Optical? Anyways thanks for your help if you find a 600 ohm audio interface or amp for me I love you. 400- CAD

Its $150, handles 600 ohms, sounds as good as my Schitt stack, has multiple inputs and lets you listen to PC and device audio at the same time, decodes Dolby Digital on the optical input for better movie/console audio. I'm quite happy with it.

"600 ohm" for amplifiers is a purely marketing term that carries no physical meaning. Virtually every voltage amplifier on the market will perform better into higher impedance loads; the real question is what sort of voltage swing the amplifier can handle into a higher impedance load. The X7 does 6.5Vrms; the Schiit Magni does around 11Vrms. Getting a 600Ω DT990 to 100dB requires about 1.3Vrms.

 

Technically any consumer amplifier can handle "arbitrarily high number" ohms; otherwise they wouldn't work without a load connected.
