Laptop temperamental

My laptop at times will thermal throttle, even shut down at times. I know that this is because of the thermal junction and my Toshiba's laptop week coiling setup. 

 

What I don't understand is that half of the times I drop my laptop on to a table from about an inch, the laptop would freeze. I'm using a SSD though of questionable quality. Any reasons why my laptop hates shock?

i'd guess that a moving part like a fan or something moved during that drop.
