Which GPU to upgrade to

I finally got the opportunity to upgrade my old GTX 680 to something better, since in a few days I will be in USA (I live in a south american country, where the prices are hugely higher than in North America) and my pc is almost exclusive to gaming. Question is to what GPU to buy. I've been looking into both GTX 1080 and RTX 2080, even though I could settle for something different. Both, at least in Newegg and Amazon, are in the same price range, but I can't decide in which one. Biggest issue I have with the 2080 would be the chance of artifacting, since RMA overseas is somewhat of a hassle, but at the same time, it's newer and performs better than a 1080. I'm fairly new here, so I apologize for any lack of information or mistake.

I'd go with a 1080Ti if you can find one. Check locally for an EVGA card and you'll be good to go.

A 1070 or 1080 would be perfect for this. If you want an amd card then a Vega 64 is probably best.

GTX 1080Ti or RTX 2080 would be great, MSI Gaming X Trio or any ASUS ROG with Triple Fan, EVGA is good tho

EVGA & PNY tend to have the highest quality boards from NVIDIA since they are the board development partners. I'd recommend a 1070 as it will be a fantastic upgrade from the 680

With a similar budget, used GTX 1070 + used E5-1680v2. GTX 1070 lost a lot of its second hand price tag in the cryptocurrency crash, so why not ride it. As of that E5-1680v2 it is the only unlocked 8-core Ivy Bridge CPU, and with a healthy overclock to 4.5GHz (a 50% overclock aka the golden standard of Celeron 300A) it trades blows with R7-2700X and approaches i7-9900K. Your i7-4960X is equivalent to E5-1660v2.
