If I were to reinstall Windows would it delete any data or do I have to take it off if I don't want the data to be deleted?

take the data off from C:/Users

(removing the data and putting onto a Different drive or even Google Drive or DropBox)

then Reinstall windows

When I was installing a new SSD I installed Windows on it and it was working at first then all of a sudden I start getting a black screen with an underscore symbol flashing in the top left.

How do I fix this? Without deleting anything from the drive because I have data on it.

This generally means the boot disk you have chosen does not have any bootable software on it. Do you have multiple drives in the computer? If you head into the BIOS you can choose a drive to boot from. Make sure you're trying to boot from the drive with windows on it.

Hope this helps!

The drive did have Windows on it.

you could (if you have another laptop or desktop) go into the drive and copy the User data then reinstall windows

OR

try Swapping Sata Ports (it has worked for me in the past)

This is great advice, if you could grab the personal data off that drive and secure it, then you could reinstall windows without the risk of losing your data.

Definitely might simply be a bad SATA cable or port, so try that.
