I currently have a GTX970, which I bought right when it came out, since then, i've loved it. But now, I kind of feel it is starting to age, so I wondered if I should upgrade or not. I just got a Ryzen 7 2700X, since im doing some Arch 3D Modeling and CADD, video editing and photo editing, as well as some gaming, not intense tho. I was thinking about a RTX2070, since that ray tracing power goes great with this sort of CADD, but not sure if it is worth the upgrade. Also worth mentioning, im planning on upgrading monitor, to a 4k one, not sure though, because right now I have a crappy 60Hz 1080p monitor. What are your ideas?

do your research and see if RT cores are actually doing anything in the software you are using.

OP might be better off with a Quadro of some kind, or one of the AMD workstation cards as well.

i guess the real question is how much his time is spent doing work compared to gaming as both gaming and workstation cards can do both.

Workstation cards might be a better option purely for their capacity for being able to handle both really well.

see i don't quite agree with that, because when you factor in cost you will have a faster gaming card which can still do both.

I recommend a 1080p 144Hz monitor, it would look pretty great and definitely be more feasible than a 4k setup on a 2070.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Why? Isn't that quad or even double resolution worth it? I would love a 144 Hz panel but is 1080 worth it? Considering I might do rendering which would look great on high res?

rendering is one thing, but gaming at 4K is an immense task while high refresh rate is usually more achievable by lower-end or mid-range hardware, and it also looks more striking during gaming in my opinion.
