Programs opened recently?

Hi P

Recently I noticed there's a program or something that randomly opens and closes in a matter of half a second, it happens at least once an hour, but it happens so quickly that I can't tell what program is it, I just get to notice it on the taskbar.

I ran a scan and it didn't found any virus whatsoever.

Is there any program or something that could show me recent open programs? I want to know what is it

Thank you

I am assuming that it is not a company PC and you are not in a domain. Because then I would say its the Group Policies that update every 1h.

I think it is some kind of cleanup tool that shortly runs a script. You could check the task scheduler if anything is noted there

My Setup:
CPU: i7 4790 @3800 MHz, MB: MSI H87-G41, Grafik: Gigabyte GTX 1080TI, RAM: 2x 8GB DDR3 (1600), Storage: Samsung SSD 850 Evo

It's my personal computer and whenever such program opens (even if it's half a second ) it has an impact on the performance, FPS drops to 10 in games, or YouTube lags, etc, it's just an annoying thing to have I guess.

I just checked the Task Scheduler, nothing unusual there.

Any other way to check recent programs or something?

There are tools that log all processes of your system, but the easiest way would be to deactivate all programs in the autostart. if it still happens, then it its a windows process, if not then you know that one of those programs is causing that.

Could you recommend a program that does that? (safe one)

I actually tried disabling everything in autostart few days ago and it still happened, even if it's windows I just want to know what is it x_x

What I usually use is the process monitor (procmon.exe) from sysinternals, its a safe tool from Microsoft. The only problem is that it very "spami" with the default settings because it logs eeeeeeverything.

What I would try is to run the tool in the background, as soon as you notice the performance drop, stop the logging from procmon and try to find the process that is causing this. Maybe set the view filter to only show "process and thread activity" the buttons at the top right, since it should be process or thread causing this issue.

You can download the procmon.exe here: https://live.sysinternals.com/

let me know if you find it, good luck hunting :)
