Hello everyone, I'm helping a friend figure so parts for a PC and im curious on everyones thoughts on the build

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3nDMxG

Some questions i have are

  • Is the ram fine or is over kill
  • is a 2 TB hard drive and 500 gb SSD enough
  • Is 750W of power enough for this build?
  • is the video card still good for rendering or is it better to go for a more consumer card like the RTX series or Vega

Also one more thing is that i have zero experience in 3d rendering, i'm just here for some help.

  • 32gb is probably overkill for now but for rendering will probably come in handy later
  • Storage is fine
  • Power is more than fine
  • Honestly a GTX 1080/Ti or RTX 2070/2080 would probably be better

Also, I would spend the extra to get a 9700k for the extra 2 cores, or go Ryzen 2700 for 8 cores and 16 threads.

  • Ram: Definetly go for 32gb of ram (2x 16gb).Leave room for more ram upgrades down the line ?
  • Quadro: if he is going to do some serious simulation or cad work it might be justified to use a quadro, but probably anything will work with a great viewport performance from the gtx 970 onward. I assume the rendering engine will be cpu based, so there is no real need for a 1080 or rtx card.
  • cpu: i would also go with a ryzen build. (oc those 8 cores to 4.0 and lay back)
