Any suggestions?

Hi there!

 

In my school there is this French project that aims to help us learn French a bit more easily by making our own content. Our teacher asked us to make a portfolio but nobody knew what to put in it and so the teacher (using I don't know what because she is not a PC expert) made a HTML file that had seven buttons. Each button was a link for a folder and some of the folders had Word documents inside. Those Word docs are models of the things that we need to have inside our portfolio. The problem is that when you click the .doc file it makes a copy of the file in the Downloads folder. Is there anyway to open the file without copying it to Downloads ?

P.S.: I am not an expert in HTML so please make it as easy to understand as possible, I know a few things but not a lot.
