How many of you remember AMD's Socket 940? The Workstation Socket sibling to the consumer Socket 939? Well I do, and today while cleaning out an old room at work I found this tray of Ten AMD Opteron 270's worth $10,500 at launch in 2005. Turns out at some point the original owner of the computer store I work at thought it would be a good idea to order these CPU's for some reason, and they sat forgotten until today. What a wast!

Finding these makes me remember my first ever Gaming PC.

Cost from Newegg Back in 2007

Opteron 185 Dual Core Socket 939: $239

ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard: $157

SLI'd BFG 7900GS's (RivaTuner Unlocked to GT's): $229 + $188 = $417

4x512MB Crucial Balistex DDR 3200 CL2 (Got 2 Sticks free via Crucial Rep, The second two sticks cost): $117

Sparkle Power 600W PSU: $110

Sunbeam Transformer Full Tower Case: $97

2x60GB IBM SATA HDD's in RAID 0(Gifts)

1x250GB HDD (Gift)

52X CD-RW (From old PC)

In total the system cost $1137, but I did have to replace the motherboard at one point(Turns out it was one of the GPU's and the motherboard was fine...) so tack on another $200... I'm not joking here if you add that second motherboard the system cost ~ $1337... It was an omen of things to come.
