First time updating bios.

Hello, i have a gigabyte Z370XP SLI which i want to update but dont know how should i update it. what i mean by this is my bios version is at F5 currently on the gigbytes website theres a bios version upto F11 so should i update me bios from F6 to F11 one by one? or can i just update to F11 and get all the older updates with it?

Nah, with bioses you can always jump straight to the latest version.

Make sure you are using a ups or are closely watching the pc the whole time tho and making sure no one unplugs it or turns it off

This isn't 1998 my dude, the days of bad flashes killing boards are long gone (assuming your board cost more than $40).

 

I mean, I wouldn't recommend killing the power mid flash but chances are more than good that if that did happen your board would either recover itself or you'd have the ability to reflash it using usb flashback.

well it already has the F5 anyway so things couldn't get worse... last decent version for those boards was the F3, the one before the infamous patch that killed 10% of coffee lake single core performance

OP - I updated my BIOS two weeks ago from an old rev to a new rev - I HATE the changes.  Havent had time to roll back - this is GREAT ADVICE RIGHT HERE:

My temps are wonky (higher) my autoclock is lower, all kinds of things I hate about it.  Just a thought!

I think any modern Z370 motherboard updates BIOS not more than 10minutes.

I updated my Z370 motherboard just right after I took it out of the box when I first boot it up just to stay on track with the lattest fetures like compatibility to run the Intel 9th gen CPUs, the whole BIOS updating process was brief enough..
