2600x is like 8-10% faster overall, but 1600x is $15-20 cheaper. So if you're willing to spend the extra dosh I'd go for the 2600x, but if you're super tight budgeted then the 1600x will work just fine.

Current System: R7 1700x 3.93Ghz, PowerColor R9 380x 1.14ghz, 16gb Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200mhz, EVGA 650 GS

imo get the r7 1700 instead newegg has the r5 2600x at 220 I believe while the 8 core r7 1700 is 200 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113428

Depends though, if the OP wants the CPU for gaming then the 2600X is better. But both are very viable and good CPUs.

@xandredu @Moseley2002 People REALLY over think how important ipc is for gaming all the tests we see show well this one hits 180 fps while intel gets 250fps. Now if you are a competitive player WHO NEVER will stream then yeah but.... at that case just get an intel cpu. I have a r7 1700 at 3.6ghz I get 144hz locked with fornite never below 120 fps even in hectic moments. trust me unless you're going for 240fps amd r7 1700 is 100% worth it.
