Did you overclock the cpu or 80degC is with stock clock ?

Because just shouldn't be getting that high of a temp with the h115i.

To be an expert is to know more about less.

how did you find out that the ram was the problem ? :)

Check the QVL on the motherboard manufacturer website in the support section. QVL is the qualified vendors list for RAM. I ran into this problem with Ryzen and I've never heard of this problem on the Intel platform so it might not be the issue. It's frustrating, I know. However, if you have compatible RAM then I suggest you update your BIOS to the latest version and make sure all drivers are up to date. If that fails then clear the CMOS.

What I've noticed is that when I tried to update Windows it would throw me errors. That could be a sign that your RAM is the problem but not necessarily. That's just what happened in my case.

I have also ran into clock watchdog error and the problem was I had incompatible RAM.

I discovered that the hyperx fury 2666mz isnt compatible with asus rog maximus ix hero, do i need to change my ram? But the cpu is still way to hot at times the crash is happening(80c) the cpu is aslo often at 40-50c idle

Check to see if the air being discharged from the h115i feels proportionally warmer as it should to room temps or if its only very slightly elevated when reaching the 80c mark, should be able to tell a decent diffrence even at the 50c level. If your heat exchance seems pore there could be something up with the cooler, low water, pump restrictions, pump failure. Are you applying any heavy overclock settings?

You absolutely need to switch out RAM for compatible ones. Also, make sure you have applied a sufficient amount of thermal paste as well as properly seated the heatsink on the CPU.
